Frequently Asked Questions
Why counseling?
At some point in time life is challenging in different ways for all of us. No one is able to avoid struggle in life. And it’s helpful to not walk it alone. I do not view attending counseling as an indication that there is something wrong with a person. Rather, I see this choice as a step forward; a sign of strength, courage, and a desire for something better.
What are the fees for services? (No Surprises Act)
50-minute appointment - $175
I do not want cost to be a deterrent from seeking support. I offer a sliding scale on a case-by-case basis.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
Do you take insurance?
I am out of network with all insurance companies and do not take insurance. You may use out-of-network benefits or an HSA if that applies to your plan. I am happy to provide a Super Bill if you are planning to file for out-of-network benefits.
Do you offer Teletherapy?
Yes! Teletherapy is effective and a helpful resource for clients. If you would prefer to meet virtually, I use a HIPPA-compliant site that is simple to use.
What if I have an emergency?
I am unable to provide after-hours and crisis management assistance as I am a solo outpatient provider. If there is a mental health emergency:
Dial 911
Visit your nearest emergency room
Contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-TALK)
Contact the Mobile Crisis Line (Matrix) (704-566-3410)
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
You may email me or use the Client Portal to cancel or reschedule an appointment. I ask that you cancel appointments at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time. You will be charged the full fee in cases of a late cancellation or not showing for the appointment.
